What are my chances of getting into Yale University/any other Ivy League University/ or Stanford?

I am currently in my junior year. My GPA is 5.2 weighted, 3.9 unweighted. I am the founder and director of two non-profit organizations, one in Miami, the other in Haiti. I expect my SAT scores to be within the 2100-2300 range.I recently joined the Badminton team, and I am an active member of the Science Honors Society, the English Honors Society, the National Honors Society, and the Photography Club. I rank within the higher end of the top 10% of my class, and have gotten two 5's on AP tests; I expect to gat only 5s and 4s this year. I Only have Honors/gifted Courses and AP Courses, with a few regular art and PE classes. I am also naturalized Colombian-American Citizen. I speak fluent English, Spanish, French, and I am attending an Ovarian Cancer research internship at Yale. I am from one of the last remaining families in Colombia to maintain a Native American last name, and I have 300+ community service hours at 2 or 3 institutions.

Please, only constructive comments. Thank You!

You're an average applicant, so about a 10% chance at most of the Ivy Leagues (a bit higher at Yale since you already have connections there).

I want to take up badminton - how do I got about it?

I've been playing it in PE lately and I'd love to start out of school, do I buy a set and play against friends or is there some hidden underground competition?

Check your local gym or community/sports center. I'm a badminton nut. I found a gym about 7 miles away from my house that had people play badminton 3 times a week, so I'm paying a membership fee right now basically just to play badminton.
I really do wish there was some kind of badminton underground competition, but it really depends on where you live. Like for me, I drive way out of my way everytime I want to play because of this friggin awesome sport.
Setting up a badminton court in your backyard isn't a bad idea either. It's insanely addictive.
Best of luck to ya!

Golf and sports equipment in Australia?

Our family is considering moving to Australia from the US. We are amateur golfers and would like to continue. Could someone from down under give us some tips on golf over there? Where would one buy a nice set of clubs or should we bring our own? In the states, there are many online golf equipment stores one can buy at very good prices. We can buy a nice Taylormade set for USD500. If we want to visit a store to look at clubs, we can go to Sports Authority or Golf Smith or some others. Are there large sporting goods stores in Australia? The kids also like fishing, basketball, tennis, badminton, so the sporting goods store is one of the first places we need to go when we get there. Would appreciate someone knowledgeable to give us some ideas.

Bring your own clubs there pritty pricey over here. And there is heaps of really good sports shops anywhere you look were really into sports over here.
Golf over here is sort of a mixed bag lots of bogans or you would call hillbillys play golf its great fun and not many people take the sport serious they sort of walk around wacking balls and get drunk.
Go to a really good club and you wont get the bogans but it costs a flamen fortune. I had a round of golf and it cost me over $200.

badminton basics

Can you give me some tips or techniques that you know about Badminton?

Well, please don't include the basics.

Try to hit to the back and side of a person, so their reaction time won't time up with the birdie falling.

Serve on your non-dominant side so the other team won't suspect where it is....

Badminton Basic Technique 羽毛球高級課程

is my own "self training" activities/exercises in Badminton sorta effective?

I do the following twice or once a week: BTW, im 14

I run/jog 150 miles.
I jump rope 100 skips
I do the basic exercises
I play badminton against the wall (fast) for 45minutes
and play with some people.

if not, any advices?

For physical conditioning, that's perfectly fine. However, make sure that you are practicing correct stroke form and grip during all that. If you get into a habit and later realize it's wrong, it will be very hard to break those habits. Verify your correct form, grip, and other badminton skills and you'll be fine
