Badminton/Mean Girl Problems?

At school we had badminton try-outs and we did rallying. A mean girl name Brittany told me that in singles you don't have to serve cross court after she served it onto the other side of the court. And I wasn't there when they explained the rules about badminton.

I forgot that in singles the court is smaller so she said it was in when she served it out of bounds. When she beat me she played another girl named Meagan and she said the exact opposite thing she said to me about you have to serve cross court making her win both games.

What should I do?
she will get on the badminton team for cheating.
Could you also tell me which way is right for singles?

To score a point in singles, the shuttle must land anywhere in the court, except for the side tramlines. This is commonly referred to as 'long and thin' because the back is in, and the sides are out.

In doubles, when you serve, the whole of the court is in, except for the tramlines at the back of the court, after the service, the whole court is in, including the back tramlines.

There are other various ways to earn points, for example, double hits by your opponent, putting your racket over the net, touching the net, serving with your racket head about the handle and serving with your racket head above your waist.

I would advise you to confront the member of staff who is in charge of the tryouts and explain to them what has happened. All they would have to do is quiz this girl about the rules and she would not know the answers.

OH and by the way, when serving, the shuttle has to go over the line just infront of the net, known as the 'service line'.

I hope this helps and stops your friends cheating!

badminton rules for doubles

what are the rules and regulations for badminton doubles?

Badminton doesn't have much to do with volleyball.. but as I play both, I'll try and help.

The rules are basically the same as in singles, but with a wider court. Some differences/things to note:

- The end line at serve is the inner of the two lines. It's the outer one for the rest of the rally
- One touch only per side, so you can't both play the shuttle on the same point
- The inner side lines are not applicable to doubles play. At all.

That's about it. Good luck.
