BADMINTON MIX DOUBLE!?
hi i'm a freshman and i'm deciding to play mix can any of you help me learn the rule of mix double and also how to play better at badminton becuase it's my first year and i'm pretty scare
TY~
Tough to answer this in brief because mixed doubles is a big topic. But I hope this information will give you a starting point.
I've written an article about where to stand when playing doubles:
http://www.badmintondoubles.com/badminton-tactics/badmintontactics1
It's worth having a look at this. It's not written with beginners in mind, so apologies if I don't explain everything - but should give you an idea of what's important. To summarise:
- Positioning in badminton doubles is determined by who has the opportunity to smash.
- If the shuttlecock is lifted high in your side so one of you can smash, then you should be in the attacking formation. One player will cover the front of the court, the other the back of the court.
- If the shuttlecock is lifted high into your opponents’ side so they can smash, then you should be in the defensive formation. You will cover the mid-court, one side each.
This is written with men's and ladies doubles in mind. Mixed doubles is similar but different - in mixed you should try to always be the front person when in attacking formation, and in defensive formation stand slightly forward and diagonally opposite the smashing player, so they are covering the cross court smash. Once you've read the article this should make more sense.
Hope that helps!
By the way, if you find any part of the article confusing it'd be great if you could add a comment at the bottom and explain what isn't clear - I'll be happy to improve the article. Thanks!
