YONEX ALL ENGLAND BADMINTON 2009 - QUARTER FINALS MD - AHSHAN / SEPTANO INA VS LEE / SHIN KOR
What is the best make of badminton racket? (eg yonex, head etc)?
In my opinion it would be Yonex, but only because I've only ever used the Yonex brand. When I buy a racket I don't exactly want it to break easily or soon, and I know Yonex are a reputable Badminton racket producer, so I stick with them!
But I'm pretty sure other brands such as Head, Wilson and Carlton are pretty good. It just seems to me that Yonex have a good specialist focus on Badminton rackets therefore they generally produce the best.
Depending on the way you play your game you can buy a frame on its own, or the racket with the strings, and have it re-strung by a specialist. The strings lose tension over time or just generally shift from how they were first strung. You can also re-grip your racket. If you buy a relatively expensive frame, good quality and light, then have it re-gripped and re-strung when the time comes you'll be saving a bundle rather than buying another racket altogether.
I hope I helped. I realise that's entirely my opinion, but hey, I'm open to others views on racket brands!
Things to remember when going to your first badminton tourny?
going to my first badminton tourny wednesday, i am 15, its a really important tournament, just looking for some tips or strategies of somewort for singles, thank-you!
1. Try to stay calm and relaxed. If you're anything like me, when I played my first tournament I was so nervous I mishit practically every shot and my smashes were terribly off.
2. Stay hydrated but not too hydrated. Gatorade is good but not 4 bottles of it.
3. If you have some time do some cardio training like running or jump rope. If you and your opponent are near the same skill level, the ability to keep going longer than your opponent might be the difference between a win and a loss.
4. Eat a lot of carbs: rice, bread, noodles, pasta the day/night before. It'll give you energy for the next day.
5. Try to only smash when you have a good shot/position. Otherwise, you'll only waste energy making easy to receive smashes and throw yourself off balance to make the next shot.
6. Have fun! Tourneys are a lot of fun and the experience is awesome. I always improve a lot even if I lose terribly at the tourney. Besides, it's your first tourney so don't be so hard on yourself if things don't go as planned.

nike and adidas don't manufacture trainers specifically for badminton, do they? is it yonex then or wilson? they are the biggest names in badminton, aren't they? how about the lesser known brands - kason, karakal, carlton or prince? do tell
What did the guy above me just write^^^^?
Anyway, Yonex definitely makes the best shoes specifically for badminton, Yonex is really the best choice for any of your badminton needs.
Nike and Adidas don't make badminton specific shoes, but they do however make cross-trainers for courts and also some tennis-specific shoes that would probably be as close to a badminton shoe as you can get.
Prince and Carlton make great equipment, but yes, you're right, Yonex and Wilson are the biggest and best names in badminton.
