the rules of badminton 5 Rules of badminton anyone?
P.E. teacher sucks so you guys are stuck helping me answer questions...I hope. =]
OK. Here's a few for you, even though you've put it in the wrong section.
- All lines are IN the court.
- Serve must go over the net and on or beyond the short service line; and on or short of the doubles service line (the first of the two parallel lines at the back of the court). This line is not used in singles play.
- The inside parallel sidelines are for singles play; the outside ones are for doubles.
- Serve from below the waist with an underarm swing.
- If you swing and miss on serve it is a fault.
- If you stand on a line while serving, it's a foot fault.
- When the shuttle hits the floor, only the part of the shuttle that hit the court first is the important bit. It's not where it stops, it's where it first bounces that counts.
- Badminton is like volleyball in that you do not have to have the serve to be able to score a point.
There, hope that helps.

YONEX ALL ENGLAND BADMINTON 2009 MS - ROUND 1 LIN DAN [2] CHN vs ANUP SRIDHAR IND
Anyone know something about YONEX ArcSaber 8 Badminton Racket?
There is no such thing as a Yonex ArcSaber 8 Badminton racket yet, the recent ArcSaber racket that Yonex produced is called the "ArcSaber 9." There are currently only 3 rackets in the ArcSaber series for Yonex, the ArcSaber 10, 9, and 7.
Me and my mates have started playing badminton. I say the service court for doubles is the same as singles. They say its different, they say its the outside lines in doubles from the service. Also, if the shuttle cock hits the net and goes over on the service is it a fault?
The service court is the same for singles and doubles. If the shuttle-thing hits the net on service it is a fault.
YONEX ALL ENGLAND BADMINTON 2009 - QUARTER FINALS MD - AHSHAN / SEPTANO INA VS LEE / SHIN KOR
What is the best make of badminton racket? (eg yonex, head etc)?
In my opinion it would be Yonex, but only because I've only ever used the Yonex brand. When I buy a racket I don't exactly want it to break easily or soon, and I know Yonex are a reputable Badminton racket producer, so I stick with them!
But I'm pretty sure other brands such as Head, Wilson and Carlton are pretty good. It just seems to me that Yonex have a good specialist focus on Badminton rackets therefore they generally produce the best.
Depending on the way you play your game you can buy a frame on its own, or the racket with the strings, and have it re-strung by a specialist. The strings lose tension over time or just generally shift from how they were first strung. You can also re-grip your racket. If you buy a relatively expensive frame, good quality and light, then have it re-gripped and re-strung when the time comes you'll be saving a bundle rather than buying another racket altogether.
I hope I helped. I realise that's entirely my opinion, but hey, I'm open to others views on racket brands!
